What time does the trading day reset (timezone) and why it matters

Severity Critical

TL;DR

Your daily limits reset at 16:00 CT. That timestamp defines your new daily start equity, which defines your daily-loss buffer.

How it works

  • At 16:00 CT, the system snapshots your equity and calls it “day start equity.”
  • From that moment until the next reset, your equity can’t drop more than your daily % limit.
  • This is why we tell you: don’t get tricked by timezone, use a converter.

Common gotchas

  • If you trade late in your local evening, you might be minutes away from a new daily start line (and your headroom can change fast).
  • If you’re floating loss at reset, you’re basically starting the new day already limping.
  • If you’re floating profit at reset, your “start equity” is higher… but don’t use that as an excuse to size up into stupidity.
  • Your dashboard is the official scoreboard: don’t guess.

Example

It’s 15:55 CT and you’re down -2.8% on a 3% daily limit. You open a new trade. A spread pop pushes equity to -3.01% before reset → breached. Five minutes later you would have had a fresh day. Painful. Avoidable.
